What is triple double?

In basketball, a "triple-double" is a statistical achievement in which a player records double-digit numbers in three different statistical categories during a single game. The most common categories for achieving a triple-double are:

  1. Points: Scoring 10 or more points.
  2. Rebounds: Securing 10 or more rebounds.
  3. Assists: Delivering 10 or more assists.

However, it can also be achieved with combinations involving steals or blocks, although these are less common. For example, a player might record a triple-double with 10 or more points, rebounds, and steals.

Triple-doubles are considered a significant feat because they demonstrate a player's versatility and ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game. Some players, like Oscar Robertson, Russell Westbrook, and Magic Johnson, are renowned for their ability to accumulate triple-doubles consistently. Russell Westbrook, in particular, has broken several records related to triple-doubles, including the most in a single NBA season and the most career triple-doubles.

Achieving a triple-double requires a well-rounded skill set and often indicates that the player has a significant impact on the game.
